xXx Racing was blindsided by another life-ending tragedy.
I think everyone who races understands that there is an inherent danger with bike racing, but two deaths to such a wonderful group of people – man it’s tough to swallow.
xXx member Pieter Ombregt was killed while racing the Tuesday Night Practice Crits in Matteson, IL. Details are sketchy at best as nobody saw the crash (he was apparently on a flyer). But it doesn’t really matter.
My heart goes out to all my former teammates and Pieter’s family / future wife. As I understand it, he was a transplant from Belgium and enjoyed dominating the Cat 4 races here on his was to the next level.
Rest in peace, Pieter.
