Let’s go boys.

by Joe Doyle on September 30, 2008

October baseball is in the air for the mighty Chicago White Sox. While you certainly know how to make your fans sweat – and your low-side AL record entering the playoffs is of great concern – know that this fan will watch every playoff minute with hope and diligence.

And good luck to those other guys, too. I feel kinder and gentler – perhaps it’s feeling the way you guys do most of the time entering the playoffs. But this year, you have a good team – best I’ve seen up dere in boystown.

Enough about that. It would be cool if we both made it to the dance.

And the SOX win it all, natch. GO SOX!

Z no no - to asterisk or not?

by Joe Doyle on September 15, 2008

Sometimes lady luck swings your way, sometimes not so much. But she is crucial to winning everything – those die-hard Chubs fans will tell you that the WHITE SOX were “lucky” in 2005.

So was lady luck looking down on the little teddy bear Cubs when the league somehow managed to persuade Houston management to move the game to Wrigley North?

I think so.

I also think there should be an asterisk next to Zambrano’s name in the history books. In a more hostile playing environment, his chances for no-no would have been just so-so. Especially since the ‘Stros looked more than just a little fatigued from the last-minute trip.
