Roadies - grab a mountain bike

by Joe Doyle on February 14, 2008

This is one of the funniest road vs. mountain bike articles I’ve ever read. It’s not demeaning, by any means. Just good natured fun.

My favorite excerpt:
“And don’t point out obstacles. Unlike roadies, who want to help each other stay upright, one of the primary reasons mountain bikers hit the trail is because there’s always a good chance someone’s going to have a good wipeout, and they don’t want to miss it.”

Reminds me of the “take a roadie to the woods” days that Erik Weisenburger craved so much when we were on xXx Racing. I just think he wanted to challenge all those Cat 1+2 guys.

That is a great read - thanks for posting it! We have to officially revive the ‘take a roadie off road’ day in xXx - we have a much more formidable bunch now too - ahh yes we shall revive that excellent tradition!

Reid Mumford was always up for going. But then, he cut his teeth in cycling out in Utah where the trails and mountains are vast. I’m sure he would have schooled.

Have fun!
