Our friend Chad’s favorite word one summer was “Rodeo”. He said it for all the wrong reasons, but just walking into the Star of Texas Rodeo made Stacey recall his smiling face.
That’s neither here nor there, though. We were on a mission to see animals, carnies, fried creations and an old man named Willie.
A few observations:
• The rodeo reminds me of the Allegan County Fair. I really like the 4H animals and tractors. And if they had him, I woulda paid 50¢ to see the world’s biggest pig.
• Always walk all the way through the food court before making your selection. There was an Authentic Chicago Italian Beef stand I found towards the end.
• Country girls like to wear cowboy boots and short skirts.
• Country boys wear Wranglers and plaid.
• Don’t put your kids on the rides, for their own safety.
• I can’t wait for my kids to be part of their first rodeo.
• Any and all food can come on a stick.
• I’ve heard of the Hot Beef Injection, but never the Sundae:

This event was my favorite. Stacey didn’t like how the little calves were treated, but they all got up and ran away.
Back when I lived in California, I went to the Livermore Rodeo a couple of times. Always worth the trip to see all the Northern California cowboys and the hicks from out in the desert and so forth.
Good times.
I do not remember a Hot Beef Sundae, however :).
Well, if you got a Hot Beef anything, I’d bet you’d remember.
The Texas folk really cheered for the true cowboys (those from the great state). All these others got less applause.
