Following da Bears victory I put in two fast hours on the San Angelo State Park trails. I love riding this time of year. Tacky and tight conditions. No traffic. Rattlesnakes hibernating. Temps hovering around 60º.
I never track my mileage or run a GPS, but one of the Mojos recently rode there on the end of his three-week west-coast riding adventure. He did 28 miles, 2700 feet of climbing. I think that I was slightly under that, but there is plenty of climbing to be had. The trails I enjoy have tight uphill rocky switchbacks and steep climbs.
Despite real saddle time and official clydesdale status I felt pretty good today. I cleared most everything I usually do and I remembered where key technical challenges were. Part of my goals for ‘08 include eating much better (one new meal a week on this blog, too) and riding more. This is a good start.
Two days of holiday cheer and fun with the kids and nieces ahead. Grandma Karen and Grandpa Corky are watching the kids so we can see this movie. I have no real historical sense of the Russia – Afghan turmoil of the 80’s, but still look forward to learning more about the hard-partying, key Democratic Texas Senator who ended it all.
Oh yeah, just saw this book and thought, “damn, I found this thing waaaay too late for the holiday season”. The images are amazing.
Hope you’re all doing well.
