I love custom bicycles.

by Joe Doyle on March 4, 2009

Steel is real in my mind, though Ti is a nice material, too. There is no better place in the world to see amazingly beautiful custom bicycles (made from Ti and steel) than at the North American Handmade Bicycle Show.

This year it was in Indy - home to many things, including the nicest airport I’ve ever been in (seriously). My friend Joe Udell and I made the trip, and I reported about it at a blog we started just for the event. It’s called Olive Loves Cool Bicycles, after Joe’s new Bull Terrier.

Check out the site - we did a bunch of work in little time. And check out the Flickr - the photos are amazing, too. Here’s my favorite cyclocross rig from Hufnagel:

The Hufnagel is a beautiful cross bike. Form the photos I have seen I think the white Courage was my favorite road bike .

I loved the drops on that Courage, and the builder was overly-nice. Look for plenty of those at the CCC this year - the Klugs will be riding them.

And that CX bike - he had it down to 16lbs. Holy. Crap.
