The best team in all of Chicagoland was hit by a tragic disaster this past weekend.
xXx member Elizabeth Kobeszka was killed at The Proctor Cycling Classic. Proctor is a great race – hilly and well run for 20 years. But unfortunately it wasn’t closed to traffic. Riders are required to stay on half the road and freak accidents aren’t given a second thought.
Perhaps there should be a movement for 100% fully-closed courses. I know it’s a logistics nightmare, but the extra time and resources spent are certainly a much smaller price to pay.
I didn’t know Beth, but I raced with her teammates and I know their big hearts are broken to pieces.
Rest in peace.
