You know what sucks?

by Joe Doyle on January 8, 2008

Reading the newspaper at night and discovering that you just missed something really cool.

Not that we could swing it with absolutely no notice and sick kids, but I bet we’d have fun.

Reminds me of the Elvis Spectacular at the House of Blues that the Doyles all went to a couple years back.

Happy Birthday, King.

Texas Style Christmas

by Joe Doyle on December 25, 2007

What a splendid day. The sun is shining and we’re encroaching upon mid-60s, family is all about and I’m about to ride the State Park where I find respite in the woods and call my family back home.

Today is a day meant for song and rejoicing, so I wanted to post a video of my favorite: Happy Holidays Y’all by Robert Earl Keen, Jr.

REK a Texas singer-songwriter who grew up in Houston and roomed at A&M with Lyle Lovett. While I couldn’t find the above song in video, I was able to find another of his songs – the prequel to Happy Holidays y’all – called Merry Christmas from the Family. His lyrics in both are great – it’s all about the common man.

Have a great celebration today, friends.
