I heart hockey

by Joe Doyle on February 12, 2008

When I wake up on Tuesdays, all I think about is hockey. I don’t shave, because hockey players don’t shave. I make sure my stinky gear is clean and I think about all the fun I’ll have tonight with my hockey friends – we taunt the hell out of each other.

Did you see the video of Richard Zednik’s neck being slashed by a skate? Not for the weak of heart. And even though I play on inline skates, this incident reminds me I want to order one of these. I currently use a half shield.

Check it out, I’m in the top ten for scoring this pre-season. Most penalty minutes, too (nothing to brag about).

Ice Bats 5, Wichita Thunder 0

by Joe Doyle on February 1, 2008

Hit the old Ice Bats game on Wednesday with Stacey’s co-worker/our friend, Phil, and a few friends from the hockey league: Jay, Greg and Allie. Good times – lots of yelling and beer – olde tyme hockey like in Slapshot (which Allie has never seen - blasphemy!)

Breakdown:
The Ice Bats scored three times on the power play as Thunder goaltender Jon Horrell faced 59 shots. Wichita played without coach Weingartner, who served a one-game suspension stemming from his ejection on Saturday night.
