Wednesday’s theme.

by Joe Doyle on July 23, 2008

Grandpa Bob – stop sending pictures, dangummit. You’re giving me unnecessary work over here.

Today’s theme includes a new venue and new clothes for the kids. Yes, we actually do dress them in other things.

Getting ready for our trip to the park with a little indoors play action.

Patchwork PJ is growing out of my favorite outfit for him. Need to find an equally suitable cute replacement.

Grandma Jean was awfully proud of this capture, and now you see why.

molly_slides.jpg
“If you’re going, I’m going, too.” Molly loves the slides.

Kids are great, but I’ll get back to more important things like bashing the Cubs and advertising anecdotes in a few. Then Grandpa Corky and Grandma Karen will be in town for their anniversary (45 years?), so I’m sure we’ll have more kiddo fun to post.

Have a great day!

The hits keep coming.

by Joe Doyle on July 22, 2008

Grandpa Bob sent images to start the day, and different ones to end the day. I think he wants me to blog a lot.

I like the theme here – this time the images are close up.

Amazingly cute. I hope she retains her lovely red hair.

When he smiles and his face is flush from the sun, PJ’s eyes and cheeks really remind me of Grandpa Heramb (his namesake - the James [J] in PJ).

A complete ham when the camera makes an appearance.

The pictures make me want to go get my kids early so I have extra time with them before hockey, ‘eh! Night night, friends.

This just in…

by Joe Doyle on July 22, 2008

my kids are insanely cute.

Grandma Jean was just in town and she captured these images of the kids. She has a three-month rule whereby she can’t go any longer before she sees her grandchildren. The visit was a quickie, but relaxing and fun with lots of outdoor time for the twins.

I lamented to Stacey last night that I love to watch my mom be a grandma, but it’s bittersweet because I’m still a son. It’s not sad – I am very loved. But it changes and becomes a deeper bond when we become parents, too.

Patrick fell smack onto a book, causing a face abrasion. It apparently gave him the ability to share the car with his sister.

katie_climbs.jpg
No fear. She loves to climb – it’s when she’s happiest.

Katie and PJ love to be with me when I’m working. They play with stuff they shouldn’t.

It’s always more fun when you’re on their level.

Welcome to Mayberry.

by Joe Doyle on July 18, 2008

Crestview, our Austin neighborhood, is very akin to Mayberry. I haven’t met Barney Fife yet, but there is a Floyd the Barber.

Our local IGA and pharmacy have been there in the middle of our neighborhood for eons. You’d never know the existed if you didn’t live in this part of town (they’re not located on a major street). We have a fabulous Little Deli, and a civic-minded neighborhood group that really watches out for the ‘hood.

Last weekend was an Ice Cream Social. We missed it in ‘07, but this year we braved the 100º heat to meet people and be social. There were plenty of kind old folk who were fun to talk with, and lots of new families. We met neighbors from down the block, and the kids enjoyed the band.

If you have time, check out our Flickr account for more images.

The next day was a social of our own. We had the Hills and Thompsons over for a kiddie pool date and some refreshments. Good times all around – it was nice to meet new old friends.

The kids love their new sand and water table. Thanks Grandpa Joe and Grandma Karen S.

Sawyer is a pretty cool dude and played well with the kids.

Have a nice weekend, friends.
