Bad Asssples and being a dad.

by Joe Doyle on April 3, 2007

Most of my posts dish about the twins and their mom, music, work, cycling, Bears, Sox (get ready), etc. Light is my motto, no need for the heavy.

But last night after softball I reflected on fatherhood (again). The Bad Assples won in the bottom of the last inning. I drove in the tying runs and scored the winning*.

But that’s not the point.

After hearing friends talk about next season, I got to thinkin’ that very soon – two kind, innocent, beautiful souls will rely on Stacey and me for a great many things. Mike Caccciaboondo would laughingly say “You’re f*cked”, which means the same thing up in Jeff Park.

So let’s have it already. I want to meet my new little friends. Anticipation. Birth classes. House painted. Yard almost perfect. Bikes collecting dust. The glove is on the shelf. I’m ready and I know Stacey is.

But she’s not going to be a dad.

* By drove, I mean knocked a two footer in front of the plate and advanced on an overthrow.
