Happy Birthday, Stacey.

by Joe Doyle on November 5, 2008

We hope your day is filled with fun and frivolity. Kinda hard to do at work, but you should.

Presents and treats await you this evening.

Much love -

The Fam.

Stacey blows out a marshmallow at Cousin Dave and Anne’s place en route to making smores. And now she curses me.

Hells yeah.

Obama. White Sox. New president. Obama. Barack Obama. SOX.

Nothing thrills me more than to have a White Sox fan in the White House. OK, OK, a Democrat is cool, too. But how about a White Sox Fan Democrat in the MF’in White House?

Life is great, I only expect it to get better.

GOBAMA! Lead us well, Sox fan.

Celtic Fest in Austin

by Joe Doyle on November 4, 2008

Celtic doesn’t mean ALL Irish, it means a whole lot of that other North Highland stuff, so we pulled out our inner Grandma Doyle (nee McCafferty) and watched weird games of throw the giant telephone pole and toss some big hammer.

There was sheep herding, live music and sausage on a stick. Not to mention turkey legs, lemonade, beer and overpriced fish and chips.

Overall it was fun. We got to trailer the kids 17 miles round trip with our friends John, Cheryl and Hayden Lane. I enjoyed riding with them and discussing the neighborhoods, as one should from a bike.

But next year it’s the Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) Festival. Much more to see I think. And likely not as expensive for what you get.

Plus it’s cool if they want to use bats in their advertising, because it’s all about death and darkness. Not so much for a Celtic Fest: Bats + Celtic patterns = Really bad. Don’t believe me?

Here’s a few quick images from the crappy iPhone camera. Halloween to come…
